Marcus Gentry “As Requested” Singer/Actor

Marcus Gentry was born in Baltimore, MD, and currently resides in Chicago, IL. Marcus studied voice at the American Conservatory of Music and consistently works at enhancing his skills as a vocalist and entertainer. He believes in doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

Marcus has been labeled the Duke of Contemporary Pop and a masterful artist of soulful seduction. He is one of todays most sought-after and compelling baritones who soothes, inspires and ignites his listeners to the next level with his smooth and melodic baritone sounds and vocal agility.

Marcus’ performances emulate the words of legendary performing artist, Rachelle Ferrell: “The songwriter translates emotion into words. The singer’s job is to translate the words back into emotion.”

Marcus has performed in Seoul Korea, Sidney Australia, Nairobi Africa, Honolulu, Los Angeles, and many more of the worlds music capitals. He has appeared in several feature films including, Save the Last Dance, Soul Food, Return to Me and Love Jones. Marcus appeared in the TV series, Simply Living, as the principle character. He had a minor role in the TV series, Turks. Marcus appeared in R. Kelly’s music video, entitled, The Greatest. He also has extensive theater experience, which includes writing, directing and performing. He has appeared in print ads, national commercials and industrial films.

Mr. Gentry is the host of his own internet radio program, called Conversations Above & Beyond with Marcus Gentry. Marcus has performed as a member of the Kendricks Group, as Melvin of the Temptations in a Tribute to the Motown Greats and has written and produced several one-man shows, such as A Tribute to the Baritones, For Your Precious Love – A Musical Love Story. Currently, he is an active member of the Notations and is critically acclaimed and internationally recognized as a solo artist, Marcus Gentry “As Requested” performing with his band, First Class.
Throughout his musical career, Marcus has shared the stage with such musical greats as James Brown, The Persuasions; Billy Paul; The Manhattans; Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes; Blue Magic; Ray, Goodman & Brown; Enchantment; Zap Band; Barbara Mason; Peaches & Herb; The Escorts; Freddie Jackson; Gean Chandler; Jennifer Graham; Vanessa Holmes; Tyris; Jerry Butler; The Impressions; and Bloodstone.
